China's Ancient Musical Instruments Exhibition Debuted in Saudi Arabia

The "Harmony of Heaven and Earth—— Ancient Chinese Musical Instruments Exhibition" recently opened at the Saudi National Museum in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Hosted by China National Museum, the exhibition showcases over 100 precious ancient Chinese musical instruments (sets), including bone flutes, chime bells, guqin, and twelve-tone pipes, systematically presenting the evolutionary trajectory and aesthetic ideals of Chinese musical civilization.
Monah Hakinadar, advisor to the Museum Committee of the Saudi Ministry of Culture, remarked,"This educational exhibition is sure to appeal to audiences of all ages and will undoubtedly be a success." She noted that cultural exchanges of national museums between Saudi Arabia and China in recent years have been mutually beneficial, stating: "Such exchanges and bridges are vital for mutual understanding and friendship-building." Hakinadar also highly praised China's contributions to Saudi archaeological projects and expressed anticipation for enhanced cooperation with Chinese counterparts in cultural heritage conservation, restoration, preservation, and training programs.
Ambassador Chang Hua of China to Saudi Arabia said in his speech that as one of the key projects under the framework of the "China-Saudi Arabia Cultural Year", this exhibition showcases the historical inheritance and artistic value of ancient Chinese Musical Instruments, highlighting the unique charm of Chinese culture and serving as a vivid microcosm of the exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. We look forward to enabling more Saudi people to understand China through the exhibition and writing a new chapter in cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese artists played the pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument.
It is learnedthat the exhibition will be open to the public free of charge until December 1.
