Recently, Zhejiang Provincial Museum has partnered with Rokid, a leading Chinese tech company, to launch the "Ten Thousand Years of Zhejiang" intelligent tour guide service based on AR (Augmented Reality) glasses. With theconcept of "upholding the integrity of civilization and creating innovation for the ages",this project deeply integratesaugmented reality technology withcultural and museum exhibitions to precisely restore and interactively reproduce historical scenes in physical exhibition halls, promotingthe shift from "static display" to "dynamic integration"in cultural and museum exhibition experience.
Unlike traditional QR code scanning or image recognition navigation, this service leverages Rokid AR glasses' spatial perception and virtual-real fusion technology. The system employs point cloud spatial recognition, SLAM real-time positioning and modeling, along with 6DoF interaction to achieve centimeter-level environmental recognition and understanding of exhibition halls, enabling seamless overlay of virtual content onto physical spaces. After putting on AR glasses, the audience can "enter" the virtually restored historical sites such as the Liangzhu Ancient City, the sword-casting scene of the Spring and Autumn Period, and the Lanting Gathering of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. They can observe the scene details from multiple angles and interact with the virtual elements through gestures, truly achieving an experience upgrade from "observation" to "immersion".
In terms of content, the"Ten Thousand Years of Zhejiang" intelligent tour guide systemhas sorted out the 10,000-year history of Zhejiang's civilization, ranging from the Shangshan Culture, Hemudu Culture, the Liangzhu Ancient Kingdom, to the Wu-Yue State Rivalry, the unification of China in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and the splendor of the Six Dynasties. Each AR point is designed based on rigorous archaeological research to ensure the historical authenticity of the restored content. Each AR site is meticulously designed based on rigorous archaeological research to ensure historical authenticity. Guided by technology, visitors can vividly experience the emergence of carbonized rice from ten thousand years ago, decode the astronomical wisdom behind the "Double Birds Facing the Sun" motif, explore the belief system embedded in Liangzhu jade cong, and appreciate the "diligent farming and warfare" ethos embodied in the sword of King Yue, achieving a cognitive leap from "knowledge reception" to "emotional resonance".
A spokesperson at Zhejiang Provincial Museum saidthat this AR tour is not only an upgrade of exhibition technology, but also a deep practice of "bringing cultural relics to life". Based on respecting academic research and the value of cultural heritage, the project expands the dimensions of cultural expression and dissemination with cutting-edge technology, providing a new model for the modernization of cultural relics and museumsand creating a forward-looking "Zhejiang model" for the digital protection and innovative utilization of cultural heritage.
It is learned that the"Ten Thousand Years of Zhejiang" intelligent tour guide servicehas been launched in the permanentexhibition hall of the Zhejiang Provincial Museum's Zhijiang Branch. Visitors can rent the equipment at the entrance and experience this dialogue of civilizations spanning 10,000 years in person.
